It must suck to quoted as saying I'm the CEO of the 10th largest city in America. I'm the CEO of the 37th largest economy in the world And wake up one morning and realize you were over 300 million in debt. Christ, can you balance a checkbook or what?
Some of the proposed fixes include
The following are the proposed cuts for the first phase of the budget plan:
# Elimination of 237 vacant city jobs
# Layoff of 686 city employees
# 10 percent pay cut for Kilpatrick and all appointees
# 10 percent pay cut for nonunion employees
# 10 percent pay cut for union employees in form of "days without pay" (requires agreement of city unions)
#5 to 10 percent contract concessions from city vendors (requires agreement of vendors)
Oh, almost forgot...
overtime hours would not take effect until an employee works more than 40 hours.
What part of the Stone Age is this? Isn’t anything over 40 hours a week overtime in most if not all of the US?
Oh ya, that was the first part of the proposed fix. Part 2...
# Elimination of all general-assigned city vehicles and all vehicles for mayoral appointees
# Restructuring employee benefit programs to reduce costs
# Examination of early buyout options for long-term employees
# Review of workers' compensation to reduce cases and amount paid
# Full implementation of defined contribution plan
#Examining savings and service impact of department consolidation
Did I mention they are going to talk to the state about this one?
a cigarette tax, liquor tax, prepared food tax and a slight increase in the utility user tax.

You tax the people who live here.
You tax the people who work here and don’t live here.
You can't even provide a Fire (fire & ems) or Police department that is fully staffed but you
want to tax the hell out of us.
Screw my benefits to make more money
Review workers comp to reduce claims and payouts...
Here is a tip on the last one. Try REDUCING the reasons people file workers comp claims, hence INJURIES instead of trying to screw them out of their benefits..
I just wanted to post parts of the article for all to read. My only regret is that I couldn’t make this :finga: BIGGER.
Your doing a great job, really. At what I dont know.
