I went to Lifetime Fitness Center in Canton today with my wife and family. Spoke to a young lady named Sheila. They have a really good promotion running until the end of the month and on top of it, I asked if they gave discounts to Detroit Fire Department employees... Here's what you get...

DFD members are entitled to 20% off the primary members enrollment fee. (a substantial savings.)

If memory serves, normal enrollment is like 240ish for the primary member and an extra 80 dollars for a spouse or finace living in the same house.

Until the end of March they are running a special of like 180ish + 80 for an extra member. With they department discount it cut the fee to $151.20 + $80.00 for my wife for a total of 231.20 for the two of us. when it would normally be around 400 regular price. Children of members are also members until they are 12 years old.

There are no discounts on the monthly dues of $89.90, but you get a great deal for your money including childcare (2 hours per parent) and free exercise classes, just to touch on a few.

Their facility looks great and they have 3 swimming pools.. water slides and other activities. They are more than just a gym, they are a real Health Club.

For more info... www.lifetimefitness.com (http://www.lifetimefitness.com) or call the canton club and ask for sheila, 734-394-2800.

They also have clubs in Commerce Twp, Novi, Rochester Hills, Shelby Twp, and Troy.

They seem more interested in getting you in a working out, than just getting your money and being inconvenient, like some other gyms are.

Yeah, they have restrictions on the child care center and "Family time" in the pool, but otherwise, if you feel like working out at 3 am, go for it.

I have been a member at the Shelby Twp location for about 3 yrs now and I love the place I swear by it. It is open 24/7 all year limited hrs on holidays and completly closed only on xmas. I has a steam room in both m/f locker rooms a public suana in the pool area 3 pool 1) lap pool 1) family pool with corkscrew slides for ALL ages. and an out side pool the mirror images the indoor family pool. They are very family orientated, having a daddy / daughter dance from time to time, also with top of the line day care facilities and staff, 2 basket ball court a rock climbing wall 4 raquet ball courts. the weight room and cardio rooms are enormous with over 300,000 lbs of free weights and hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in to the machine weights and cadio tredmills, eliptical machine stair climbers rowing machines. the arobic studios there are two of them all classes are frre to members as well as other programs for groups such as a "BOOT CAMP" style class, traind fitness instr. nutriutionist on staff as well. To call it a "gym" would been to under sell the facility it is truly a health club, focused and centered around you and your family as well. Having two childeren myself the day care not been extra $$ makes it very e-z to staff in and at the gym. they allso have childeren based programs from swimming to basket ball camps field trips activiteis for 3months to 12 yrs in any variance of events and activities. If you live near one and/or have the means I strongly suggest that you check it out $50ish a month for single $80-89 ish for family if you take advantage of a majority of the services there it is weel worth the sign up fee and monly membership fee and what is really nice... NO cotract work out for a day a month cancel no problem, like I said I have been there 3yrs, and love it. I am acctually looking to move and I am trying to find a house close to LTF to still be able to make it to the gym, check it out talk to the membership advisor take the tour they give you. If you are truly a fitness buff or simply just like to stay fot you will fall in love with the place. Not to mention the hunnies that work out there oh man with all the skin tightness and spandex and bending and streching and sweating whewww if that isn't motivation to hit the gym check your pulse, grab a jelly roll and stay on the couch, cuz am "going in" lol check it out yall you will like what u see
peace

Yeah, and with a FD ID you save even more than their special till the end of March...... Hurry, just a couple days left. Although it is well worth the full cost of membership, it's always better to pay less.

I have had similar problems with other places that do direct debt from credit cards or banks. AOL comes to mind, I had to threaten them with legal action.

But as far as Lifetime Fitness goes, why would anyone ever want to quit? LOL

I quit because it was busy with lawyer type' s , young punks lifting 2 reps looking in the mirror whoooing... also bratties kids left by the parents in the pool....so they can look to the tight skimpy strippers bending and sweating..

How annoying...I would just rather get in, get out and know that I'm better. Are any of those punks doing pullups? Probably not...
