Medic training?

I know there is an academy to become a basic at DFD, but what about for a medic? After you have done the academy, and done your time as a basic, and want to switch to medic, is there another academy? how does this work?

Just curious as I am a medic, and will be taking the written test for dfdems early next month. I know I will be starting as basic, but didn't get much information on where to go from there

Run while you still can... this city will suck the life right out of you... and forget anything you think you know.... what ever you tell them, they will tell you that you are incorrect. We are years behind the real world. I mean let's face it.. where can two people run a code... correctly? That's why I just sit in the drivers seat and yell back.. "let me know when your ready to go, partner.."

Duh, you don't think we do this job because we care about people do you? Nope, we do it for the cash... the day my check bounces is the day I take the truck and all equipment and sell it....

One thing you did leave out is how many other techs on the job RAT out other techs... don't forget that.

I appreciate the posts, I understand its through promotion but I guess I mean more along the lines of certifications.. when you get this "promotion" do you go through another academy? (if so how long is it) or would your medic NREMT do you any good at all?

because if you did and you heard everyone above wisam say that things won't change.you will then realize that this job really does suck.
